At FutureProof Digital we deliver a never ending variety of websites to so many different types of businesses, but our commitment to our core customer never changes. Midland Precision Guns defines what our core customer is; a local service business and a basic WordPress website. Advertise what you do, describe what you do, and sell what you do, that’s what a simple website does. The small handful of components that make up this website do exactly that.
Over many years Joe earned a reputation within the shooting community, his work came from local word-of-mouth, but he wanted to take things up a level. A basic WordPress website would achieve these business goals. Every web design agency probably says this, but we mean it; we don’t sell anything to our customers that they don’t need. We prefer to build a long term relationship with loyal clients.
“Midland Precision Guns was founded principally to carry out re-barrelling and improve the accuracy of rifles. Our goal today is the same, but we have expanded into other areas including gun sales. We are conveniently based in the Midlands and we fully focused on providing the best possible service to our customers, helping them get the most from their firearms.”
“Our Barrels have been used by Shooters in many competitions including the European Championships, in fact, our guns took a 1st and 2nd place. We have also featured in many British League Shoots as well as Irish League shoots. Our rifles have been seen in the winners enclosure numerous times, over many years.”
A website homepage should contain all of the highlights, all of the pages you want people to visit, your business goals. This is a basic WordPress website, so the goals are simple; advertise the products and services and encourage people to contact the owner for more information. This homepage features some background on the business and stylized links to view previous project, items for sale, services on offer and the contact page.
WordPress Product Pages are usually associated with complicated WooCommerce websites, but this is a very basic WordPress website. Because of regulations, Midland Precision Guns cannot sell firearms directly on their website, only in person, but they can advertise the fact that they do have items for sale, and what's on offer.
These are not product pages in the traditional sense because there's no "add-to-cart" button. Users can't make a purchase and have the item deliver to them. But many of the features found on product page are here; price, description, images etc. The only functional difference is that people are directed to contact the business for sales information rather than a checkout process.
This, and every section of the website is updated by the client. They add all the information, including the price and product images from their custom user dashboard. This feature comes a standard with every FutureProof digital website, not just a basic WordPress website.

It's always really important to keep your website updated. Google knows when you've added new content (if your SEO is right, and you have a sitemap registered with Google Search Console), and a "fresh" website ranks better than "stale" one. Our job as web designers is to make sure that the content added by the admin looks great every time, and as web developers, our job is to deliver a system that the admin can easily understand.
A WordPress Post Template removes the design element of the job from the client, and displays new content in a consistent way. We design these from the ground up on every client website. For this basic WordPress website there are only a handful; a project page (called a custom post type), and a page to display all the project (called a post archive), a product page, and a page to display all product (a product archive). In many cases a web design company might use a template or theme for these pages, we design them from scratch, each client gets custom WordPress pages.

If you click above you can learn all about what we offer to our SEO clients here at FutureProof Digital, and this post, Small Business SEO, there are 21 SEO tips for new websites. For every client we implement the SEO basics, most web design agencies don't. We optimize all the pages, for example; the image here shows the search result for the business name. This type of result shows that Google understands the structure of the site and link not just to the homepage but other pages too.
We register the business with Google My Business, the result on the right of the search page, also Google Analytics and Search Console. We install software to manage basic SEO tasks and the sitemap. We believe in SEO, and our clients get those extra services completely free of charge.
If you have a basic WordPress website and you provide services, then you want each and every visitor to end up on your contact page. You should use Google Analytics to track views of this page, and the pages they view before landing there. You should give people as many ways to get in touch with your business as possible, here we have a form, phone number and email address, but you can include social media links, and direct messages like WhatsApp.
If you’re a small business owner, then you know that having a website is essential in today’s world. For a number of years now (and this is only set to continue) two words have come to the forefront of website design; speed and responsiveness. The time it takes for your website to load, especially on mobile because Google measures this first, is vitally important. The search engines measure this time and it influences your website’s rankings. Keeping your customers waiting is bad for business, and not just in your store.
Creating a website that responds to the device it’s being viewed on used to be an optional extra, something that was nice to have but not essential. However, with more and more people using their phones and tablets to access the internet, having a responsive website has become a must. Responsive websites automatically adjust their layout and design depending on the size of the screen they are being displayed on, making them perfect for all devices.
If you want your business to stay ahead of the curve, then you need to make sure your website is responsive. At FutureProof Digital we can help you create a website that looks great no matter what device it’s being viewed on.
As of this year WordPress powers 43.3% of all websites on the internet, and 300 of the top 1000 sites. But that’s not why we use it, we use it because of you. WordPress web design is faster and better than any other platform; Wix, SquareSpace or Shopify are not in the same bracket. Faster means efficiency and value for money. Every client asks, “can I easily update the website myself ?” and the answer, most of the time is YES !! Some websites require a little training but in most cases a WordPress website is as easy to run as a Facebook page.
We are based in Roscommon, so naturally much of our work is here, and we are really proud of that. We like to meet clients in person or visit their business. This personal contact gives your site the design edge it needs. We get a real feel for the needs of the business before we begin.
We also complete contracts at a national and international level. We work with charities, The Irish heart Foundation for example, leading politicians and parties, as well global tour providers. We have fun with every one of our clients, on every website, large or small.
FutureProof Digital takes care of every aspect of the web design process; starting with your domain name. We set everything up, including your SSL security cert. This is included as part of every contract for the first year at no extra cost.
The same goes for web hosting. We set everything up for you, and provide a free year of hosting with every website. At the end of year 1 we transfer your site to your dedicated hosting plan free of charge, just a few clicks.
There are two versions of WordPress, wordpress.com is a DIY version hosted externally. We use wordpress.org on your own hosting, with your own domain name. Although for this client we delivered basic WordPress Website, that doesn’t mean that the level of quality, functionality and professionalism is in any way reduced. Small should not mean bad, large is not always better.
We work almost exclusively with WordPress. At FutureProof Digital we believe that it offers the best mix of design capabilities, functionality, user experience and value for money for our clients. If there was a better web design platform, we would be using that instead. Yes, you may be able to a website up and running faster or cheaper with Wix, or one of the other DIY platforms, but it won’t deliver what your business needs, and it won’t scale with you as you grow.
